Greetings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
First Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
A person contacted me recently with the words, “Hi Dan.” We said a few short phrases and the person wondered how we had gotten connected. Well, I Didn't do it and I have no idea but when I told the person my age and background, they disappeared. I am finding that my life is filled with broken appointments. Well, they are appointments in which an individual says, “I’ll be down in a few minutes.” Or, “I’ll do your shower soon.” or, “I’ll text you in a few minutes.” All of these cases have resulted in zero fulfilling of the promised activity. I have also found that texting can be accomplished with just three words, “Thanks”, “okay” and “fine.” You don’t even have to read what the other person wrote. Just pick one of the above words and it fits any generic occasion. You can say, “I’m having a lousy day” and the other person can text, “okay.” All of this is compounded when you get old. Who in their right mind wants to talk to an old person? What is left for a person to do that wants to carry on some type of communication with someone who is a real person instead of artificial intelligence”
I recently had a person in my present life at Noble Senior Living tell me that life is now beginning for them because they now have Jesus in their heart. That was welcome news. At least someone was listening that day. On Sunday, I told my small group in the church service that I don't mince words anymore. I was having a bath and I asked the two young ladies, “if you were to die today why do you think you would go to heaven? One said, “Because of my job.” I said, “Well, never heard that answer before.” The second lady said, “No, it’s because you have to believe in Jesus.” So, we had an interesting time in the fifteen minute bath time and perhaps some seeds were planted. The above passage is the final thought in the fifteenth chapter which deals specifically with the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. It begins with the word, “Therefore,” which indicates it is based on the subject of the preceding verses. The whole chapter deals with the gospel and the fact that Jesus died, was buried and that He3 was resurrected. The tomb is empty. Therefore, based upon that fact, all of our endeavors in our spiritual lives are not in vain. Because He lives, we too shall live. Because He lives, our work is guaranteed. Because He lives, we can have eternal life. In a world of broken promises and appointments, we can rest assured in the Word of God. Praise God for the fact that the tomb is empty.
