Commands

Greetings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,

Mark 12:30-31 says, “  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.   And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.”

Now, obeying the rules is necessary if you are going  to live a peaceable life.  When I went to school, I soon learned that the teacher was sovereign in the class.  Whatever they said was the way it was to be.  In life, certain other thing would pop up like “chain letters.”  If  you broke the chain, you would have bad luck.  My mother never broke the chain on a chain letter.  Some things don’t change in time.  They just get a tad more fancy.  For  me, I don’t like to be told  to do “this or that” in order to be favorable in God’s eyes.  I see a lot of requests that  say, “If you love God, say Amen.”  I don’t  reply  to such requests but simply ignore them.   Another request  is, “if you do this or that, in the next  hour , you will be blessed by God in a certain way.  Well, there is no reply from me as it is telling me that my blessings from God are  tied into a certain action.  Well, then, what  commands might I find myself doing?

The Lord Jesus Christ already gave us the  supreme orders in the above passage.  I don’t have to insert  “amen”  or say a certain prayer, but  I do have to be in obedience to the above passage.  What is it that is to have supreme priority in my life?  I need to love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.  Do I fail in this?  Only every day.  Those things I want  to do, I don’t do and things I don’t  want to do, I end up doing.  Seem like Paul already said that in Romans 7.  Failure to do this  task is a common event in my life but  I don’t  refrain from trying each and every day.  It is called “sanctification” or Christian growth.  We may need to ask ourselves if we are loving God with all of our heart? Or with all of our soul, or mind or  strength.  Praise God today that He has already given us His instructions for  a successful life.  Now, we need to learn obedience.
