Greetings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
“Who are you?” That is the reply that I often make when a text appears on my phone and i have no idea who they are. Sometimes it is only “hello.” or a simple word of some sorts. Yesterday I got a text from a woman who wanted her dress delivered tomorrow. I felt that she had made a mistake and so replied to her saying I thought she had placed the wrong number in the contact portion of the message. We have the ability to reach most people who have phones by dialing a certain series of ten numbers. If you are off by one number, you may get someone else instead. My first phone number had a total of seven digits, and local calling included only four digits.
We hope we can locate a live human being on earth by using an electronic device but there is that one call that anyone can make without a device and without a number. It is that call to God. The above passage reminds us of such a call and is usually what we would call, “prayer.” No number is needed. The Bible contains copies of long prayers and some that are very short, such as Peter’s prayer while sinking in the water. “Lord, save me.” It was a short prayer but one that needed to be short due to his predicament while walking on the water. We pray all kinds of prayers and most of them, or at least many of them, are requests of one sort or another. God reminded the writer that He has the ability to show us things that we don’t know. Spiritually speaking, our only way of knowing about God or His plans is by Scripture and Prayer. These two things are our lifeline to the most important items in life itself. If we want to know our purpose ijn life, just ask God or read His Word. If we want to know our eternal destiny, just read God’s Word or ask Him in prayer. Jesus prayed, Paul prayed and we ought also to pray. After we pray, we need to expect God to answer. It may well be, “Yes, No, or wait a bit.” Whatever it may be, the answer will be there. If you want to know “great “and “mighty” things, then ask God. Call upon Him and He will answer you. We are a people that stand in the need of prayer every moment of our lives so don’t get out of the habit of speaking to God without ceasing. Praise God today for His being available to answer each and everyone of us.
