Greetings to you all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Many people speak today about going out to a buffet. There seems to be plenty of them around town. You can go there and fill up your plate until it is overflowing, eat that, and then go back for more if you so desire. I don’t go to many buffets these days as it is not worth the money for me. We have adapted another saying in connection with the word "buffet." Now, we say, "My plate is full." Or, "you don't know how many things are already on my plate." The indication is that a person has a "to do" list that is longer than the time that he or she has in the day to get it all done. So, we say that our plate is full. In the long run, we began to get concerned about what is going to happen tomorrow and the next day. I find myself in that situation quite often. Matthew 6:33-34 says, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." In these verses, we see that Jesus points out that our first concern would be seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness in all things. Second, we should not be concerned about the things of tomorrow. Notice that Jesus stated that tomorrow will take care of itself. We find that we can just keep doing the things that we have to do rather than worrying about all of the things we have to do. However full our plate is we can still only get done those things on which we are working. The things that we "worry" about never get done. They will always be there because we are simply worrying about them and not working on them. The main thought for today is that we should be working on the things for today, one thing at a time, keeping on the track and not to find ourselves thinking about all of the things that we will have to do tomorrow. Is God working in your life? Are His promises valid for you? Of course they are so you don't really need to be concerned. Let Him fill your plate with the things that He has for you and then just keep working on them one thing at a time. Praise Him today as you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
