Miracles

Sometimes a series of events can produce something that is quite unusual.  I was reading a comic strip many years ago where the father was eating dinner and he dropped his biscuit on the handle of his spoon, which flipped a pea into the air which landed in his glass of milk.  He said, "Wow.  I bet I couldn't do that again."  His wife, however, was also sure that he was going to try.  God often does the unusual and that which could quite often leave your mouth hanging open.  One such case was seen in the Book of Acts as Christ was about to leave the disciples and go back to heaven.  The disciples didn't know it at the time, but this was going to be one of those most unusual events that they would never forget and neither would the rest of the world.   Maybe you can see why I am so excited when it comes to this particular miracle.  The disciples were actually there when it took place.  Acts 1:9-11 says, "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.  And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;  Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."
It is one thing to walk into the sunset never to be seen again, but it is quite another to go straight up into heaven while people around you witness the event.  Defying gravity always gets people's attention.  As I mentioned, God often does the unusual.  All of the miracles testify to that statement.  We might think that God has ceased from doing the unusual today but that wouldn't be the case.  Being born again is a miracle.  God answering prayer is a miracle.  All of the coincidences that surround your life are miracles in the sense that they are part of God's plan.  The problem that we might have is that we often do not expect God to do the unusual or the unexpected and so we miss it.  As you go out into the world today, expect great things from God and keep your eyes open.  You might be surprised at what you will see.  Praise God today that He is still doing miracles in our lives.
