There probably is an area in your life that you don't know
everything about. There are a lot of things where I could say, "I just
know enough about them to be dangerous." I figured out how to start and
drive my car, but I don't attempt to get under the hood anymore and
take it apart. I did that once to a 1961 Valiant. I was changing the
plugs, points and rotor and dropped the screw holding the points in
place, down into the distributor. There was only one bolt holding the
distributor on, so I removed it, took out the distributor, got the screw
out and replaced the distributor. Only thing was the car didn't
start. I knew what the distributor was, but didn't know that it had to
be placed in the car in only one way. My car was towed to the garage
while the driver of the tow truck said, "You know, I don't go around
teaching music lessons." He then drove off with my car. Some things,
we just don't know all there is to know. First John 3:1-3 says, "
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we
should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not,
because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it
doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall
appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every
man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure."
We look forward to the second coming of Christ and marvel at the words
describing this event yet we don't know all there is to know about the
event nor what we will really be like after it happens. We can guess
and artists can draw some fantastic pictures, but the truth is, we don't
know everything there is to know about the event. John made a
statement here that goes, "...it doth not yet appear what we shall be."
We don't know how it is going to work or what it is going to be like.
John then went on to say, "but." I love it when that takes place. He
said, "but" this is what we do know and went on to give us the
statement, "but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like
Him..." I don't know how it is going to work or how the change is going
to take place, but it says in the Bible that we do know that we will be
like Him. That's enough to satisfy my curiosity about one of the
greatest moments ever. This is one of those gems that jumps off the
page and excites every reader of what is about to take place. This
makes the day bearable no matter what is going on in your life. So
praise God about the things that you do know and even the things that
you don't understand. God is going to work it all out and we know that
whatever He does will be magnificent and awesome.
