This is the Day!

I only have a couple of days in my life when I had no ideal what day it was or what was going on. The worst one of those days was after my triple bypass at the Veteran's hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. When I woke up after the surgery, I had more tubes coming out of me than I though possible and I had a tube stuffed down my throat. I then passed out again and woke up later when they took the tube out so I could breathe on my own. It makes you appreciate getting up in the morning and having a normal day planned. The thing was, I didn't even know what day it was or how long I had been out. Psalm 118:24 says, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
All in all, it helps appreciate having a morning wake up in a normal fashion and the Psalmist has hit it on the head by stating that it is a day that the LORD has made. We don't know what God has planned for us in this day but one thing is for sure. Whatever it is, it is going to be the best thing possible for us on that day. I saw one plaque that read, “There is no safer place to be than in the center of God's will.” We may not be able to figure out how things are going to work out when we find ourselves in the middle of something that God has put in our path for any given day. Life seems to be filled with impossible things in our estimation, but God has a way to get them done through us that we don't even know about yet. When we are really wondering how God is going to get something done, we may find our lives reflecting on the lives of some of the people in the Bible such as Jonah. I am probably sure that Jonah figured it was all over when the cast him off of the ship and into the Mediterranean Sea. God, however, had things in control and the “great fish” swallowed him up and there sat Jonah for three days. What a predicament to be in. Then, he has to experience being a part of the vomit that is cast up on the shore by the fish. He probably didn't smell or look too great at the time. God still had a plan for him and gave him a second chance to do the right thing so Jonah was heading for Nineveh to preach to them a very short message. There was the scene of young David standing in front of Goliath who was about to fall as the result of a small stone in the middle of his forehead. There was also a man called Enoch who went out for a time of meditation with God and then God just took him home to be with home without experiencing death. Then, how about Daniel who experienced two occasions when things looked bleak for him but God took care of the lions and the fiery furnace. You might be wondering how God is going to get you through today and you may not have the answer, but you can rest assured that He will do it. You just don't know how or when. Yes, this is another day that the LORD has made and one of the greatest things we can do is to “Rejoice” and to be glad in it. Praise God today for what He is going to do in your life.
