It seems like men and women get to a certain point in their lives where
they forget things now and then. We carry around calendars filled with
times and dates of certain important appointments so we won't forget
them. Well, that takes care of the appointments but what about your
keys and half the items on the grocery list that you can't remember
where you laid it. Perhaps you have also forgotten names of friends or
associates. I recall that there was a practice years ago of tying a
string around your finger when you wanted to remember something.
Hopefully, when you looked at the string, you would remember why you put
it there in the first place. I never tried it. I guess I just forget
to do it. Luke 12:6 says, "Are not five sparrows sold for two
farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?"
This verse
reminds us that God is aware of even the sparrows and not one of them is
ever forgotten before God. The point of this is that God of course,
never forgets us. If He is aware of the sparrows, who are of such low
degree, then surely He will remember us. Now, our sins are gone from us
as far as the East is from the West, but God never forgets us. Now,
you may feel as though God has forgotten you at times, but that simply
isn't true. Psalm 139 reminds us that God knows everything about us
from when we get up and down and even every thought that is on our
tongue. God will not forget you during your time of sickness, nor will
He forget you in your time of grief, nor will He forget to comfort you
when you are discouraged or depressed. He is always there and we can
always count on Him. We need no other resources because God has not
forgotten us. The sparrows and the lilies are all under his direction
and control. The songwriter expressed it when he wrote, His eye is on
the sparrow, and I know He watches me. As you go out today or in other
days ahead, always remember that God doesn't forget you even though
there are billions of people on this planet, We can praise God that each
of us are remembered.
